SAT NAV can take you on an interesting route, so it may be best to follow these directions.

Directions from the A303

Travel south-west along the A303. From the Ilminster and A358 roundabout, continue for about 4 miles. The A303 climbs as you enter the Blackdown Hills and to your left look out for two leaping willow deer!

On reaching Eagle Cross, turn right. This is signed to Buckland St Mary, Wellington and Taunton. Keep to this road as it curves gently west around the edge of the Blackdowns.

You will pass the Iron Age fort of Castle Neroche and Staple Hill forest on your right.

At the first crossroads go straight over.

Continue along for about a mile and join the next road by bearing right, which then leaves the Holman Clavel Inn to your left.

At the next crossroads, go straight over and then follw this ridge road west. You will pass between an avenue of magnificent beech trees.

Continue for about 3 miles until you see a sign to your left for Hemyock.

Take this and drop down into the village. Follow the road right through the village, until you reach a cream and green rectangular Victorian water pump. Beyond this is the pub and church.

Turn left just before the pump. Carry on up the hill, out of the village, for 4 tenths of a mile, until the road narrows and you reach a nasty bend.

Our driveway is on the right, and is lined with fir trees. The wooden sign for our house, Pounds, is in the hedge and another is on the field gate.

Directions from the M5 Southbound

From Bristol. Leave the M5 at junction 26.

Take the first exit, and then almost immediately, at the T-junction, turn right. This lane becomes narrow so take care.

At the next T- junction turn left, to Hemyock. Climb the hill to the top, and at the crossroads, turn right.

Take the next left to Hemyock, and drop down into the village.

Directions from the M5 Northbound

Leave the M5 at junction 27.

Take the 3rd exit, and follow the A38 towards Wellington. After approximately 3 miles, take the B3391 to Culmstock and Hemyock.

Once in Culmstock, turn left and continue to follow the B3391 towards Hemyock.

On reaching the village, look out for the Catherine Wheel pub.

Leaving the pub on your right, and the cream and green rectangular Victorian water pump on your left, take the road marked High Street.

Carry on up the hill, out of the village, for 4 tenths of a mile, until the road narrows and you reach a nasty bend.

Our driveway is on the right, and is lined with fir trees. The wooden sign for our house, Pounds, is in the hedge and another is on the field gate.
